The Distance Learning Center of the West Kazakhstan University named after M. Utemisov was established in 2008. Since September 2023, it has been transformed into a distance and online learning center.
The goal of the Center is to expand students' access to quality educational services and education through information and communication technologies, telecommunications equipment and the Internet.
In accordance with the “Rules for organizing the educational process using distance learning technologies”, amendments have been made to the Order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated March 20, 2015 No. 137 - the Order of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated August 07, 2023 No. 397 “Rules for organizing the educational process using distance learning and online learning for educational programs of higher and (or) postgraduate education”, distance learning is offered at the BKU:
1) participants in international, republican training camps, sports competitions, intellectual and creative contests and festivals for the period of participation;
2) students who have a conclusion from a medical advisory commission on their health status;
3) students in higher and postgraduate educational organizations not exceeding the established volume according to a certain list of areas of personnel training;
4) for the training of students under double degree programs and student exchange programs;
5) for students under academic mobility programs;
6) in the event of restrictive measures, including quarantine, emergency situations of social, natural and technogenic nature, including the prevention and treatment of diseases of the population, sanitary-epidemic and sanitary-prophylactic measures.
7) distance learning is used in relation to informal, additional education, retraining and advanced training.
The tasks of the Center:
Creating conditions for students to receive education based on the use of distance learning tools and educational technology;
Ensuring student access to the educational portal within the framework of distance learning;
Controlling access to information in order to maintain confidentiality and protect learning from distortion;
Providing additional education to students on the Coursera platform with the receipt of a certificate.
The university has a modern telecommunications, information, material and technical base, which provides distance learning.
Support of the teacher throughout the entire period of study.
After admission to the university, an introductory course on working in the distance learning system is held for all students. The educational process is supported by the methodologists of the distance learning center throughout the entire period of study.
Platonus "Tasks" is carried out on the educational portal of the distance learning center (platon.nnsoft.kz) with educational content for all periods of study, together with the methodologists of the center.
