History of the university

1932-2005

Our university is the largest state higher education institution in our region and one of the educational and scientific centers in the region.

We are especially proud of the status of West Kazakhstan State University, which is developing in close connection with the history of the Ural region, which belongs to the largest cultural and industrial region of our country.

The peculiarity of West Kazakhstan State University named after M. Utemisov is that it has a long historical path of almost a century. In 2012, the educational institution will celebrate its 80th anniversary.

During these years, our university has included many famous names in the list of the entire republic and region. We can proudly say about the immeasurable contribution of our university to the scientific, educational, cultural and economic development of the western region of Kazakhstan. More than 65 thousand highly qualified specialists who have graduated from our university are our invaluable heritage, professional and spiritual wealth. Today, the largest center of education and science in the region - M. Utemisov West Kazakhstan State University, while preserving its history and advanced traditions, is constantly developing and improving. In December 2004, the university received the international quality certificate ISO 9001-2000.

2005-2010

In 2005, M. Utemisov West Kazakhstan State University was among the first higher education institutions in Kazakhstan to become a laureate of the "SPI Gold Label" (Paris, France); in 2006 On September 16, the University and Bologna (Italy) signed the Magna Carta document aimed at harmonizing the education systems of European countries. In 2006-2007, the University was awarded the international awards "United Europe" (Oxford, Great Britain) and "European Quality" (Oxford, Great Britain); the international award "Leader of the National Economy" (Russia, Moscow); at the III and IV international exhibitions "Education and Science in the XXI Century" held in Astana, it was awarded the diplomas "For contribution to the analysis and implementation of integrated curricula" and "The best publication of higher education institutions", and the M. Utemisov West Kazakhstan State University was awarded the "Golden Quality" prize of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In 2009, according to the results of the independent Russian agency "Reitor", M. Utemisov West Kazakhstan State University is one of 7 higher education institutions of Kazakhstan that are among the best 500 universities in the world.

The university is among the top ten in the 2011 ranking of universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which indicates the competitiveness of the university and the quality of the education system.

The university has a wide range of specializations. The university has 53 bachelor's degrees (full-time, part-time), 24 master's degrees, and 4 PhD doctoral degrees.

The total number of undergraduate students in the student contingent is 4640. Of these, 1279 students are studying in the grant department by state order, 3361 students are studying in the paid department.

The university's teaching staff includes 20 doctors of sciences, 15 professors, 163 candidates of sciences, 84 associate professors, and 73 masters.

M. Utemisov WKSU was the first to sign the Bologna Declaration aimed at creating a global educational space among universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Implementing the principles of the Declaration, our educational institution strives for international recognition and successfully passes the accreditation of accreditation institutions and various educational programs. By the decision of the Council of the National Accreditation Center of June 30, 2010, M. Utemisov West Kazakhstan State University successfully passed institutional accreditation and is currently preparing for international accreditation.
